Rooted in Love is the flagship program of Before, After, & In-Between, designed to support youth in developing a strong sense of identity, self-worth, and purpose. Through guided discussions, hands-on experiences, and real-life application, youth are equipped with the tools needed to navigate relationships, make confident decisions, and grow in who they are.
In a safe and supportive environment, participants are encouraged to explore important topics such as identity, boundaries, communication, and self-value—building a foundation that extends beyond the program and into everyday life.
The Covenant Collective is an upcoming program designed to support couples in building strong, healthy, and intentional relationships.
Currently in development, this program will provide couples with guided sessions, practical tools, and meaningful experiences focused on communication, connection, and navigating real-life challenges. Rooted in growth and accountability, The Covenant Collective is being thoughtfully built to create a space where couples can strengthen their foundation and grow together.
As Before, After, & In-Between continues to expand, this program represents our commitment to supporting not only youth—but the relationships and families that shape their lives.
At Before, After, & In-Between, we believe that meaningful growth happens when parents and youth are supported together. The Parent Track, an extension of Rooted in Love, is designed to walk alongside parents and caregivers as they navigate important conversations and developmental stages with their youth. Through guided discussions, practical tools, and ongoing support, parents are equipped to reinforce what their children are learning—strengthening communication, building trust, and creating alignment within the home.
At Before, After, & In-Between, we believe every young person deserves access to opportunities that support their growth and future. Our Youth Scholarships & Sponsorships help remove financial barriers, allowing youth to fully participate in programs like Rooted in Love and engage in meaningful experiences that build confidence, identity, and life skills.
As the program continues to grow, we are also working toward offering BAIB Scholarships for graduating seniors who have participated in our programs. These scholarships will support students pursuing college, trade school, or other post-secondary paths, helping them take their next steps with greater confidence and support.
Through the generosity of donors and community partners, we are committed to expanding access—not only to our programs, but to the opportunities that follow.
At Before, After, & In-Between, we recognize the importance of access to quality mental health care. While we do not directly provide counseling services, we are committed to connecting youth, individuals, and families with trusted providers and resources within the community. Through partnerships and, when available, financial support made possible by grants and funding, we help reduce barriers to care and ensure that those we serve have access to the support they need.
At Before, After, & In-Between, we understand that growth doesn’t end when a program concludes. Our Aftercare & Continued Support services are designed to walk alongside youth, individuals, and families as they apply what they’ve learned in real life. Through ongoing check-ins, access to resources, and continued guidance, we help reinforce progress, support consistency, and provide encouragement during moments of challenge—ensuring that growth is sustained, not temporary.
At Before, After, & In-Between, we recognize that lasting growth happens within the context of family. Our Family Support Services are designed to walk alongside families as they navigate challenges, strengthen relationships, and build healthier patterns of communication and connection. Through guidance, resources, and ongoing support, we equip families with practical tools they can use in everyday life—creating a more stable, supportive environment where both youth and caregivers can grow together.
At Before, After, & In-Between, we believe meaningful connection starts within the community. Our Community Events & Outreach efforts are designed to meet youth, individuals, and families where they are—creating accessible spaces for engagement, education, and support. Through workshops, events, and collaborative partnerships, we extend our reach beyond structured programs to build relationships, increase awareness, and provide opportunities for growth. These moments serve as entry points for connection, trust, and lasting impact.
We are committed to ensuring that every young person we serve has the opportunity to see beyond their current circumstances and experience what the world has to offer. Through intentional outings, hands-on activities, and real-life exposure, youth are given the chance to explore new environments, build confidence, and envision a future filled with possibility. These experiences are designed to prepare them for what’s ahead—while reminding them that their future is not limited, but full of purpose, opportunity, and hope.
Before, After, & In-Between was not created out of convenience—it was born out of lived experience, deep reflection, and a calling to serve families in a meaningful way.
I’m Kenya Kilpatrick, and I was raised in a family-oriented environment where connection, love, and togetherness were foundational. Because of that, this work has never felt foreign to me—my desire to see families grow in love and become healthy comes naturally.
But as I built my own family, I began to see a deeper reality.
Marriage is hard.
Parenthood is hard.
Life is hard.
And behind closed doors, so many people are hurting.
I began to recognize that people didn’t just need support—they needed a space where they could be honest without fear of judgment. A space where their experiences didn’t make them feel ashamed, and where they didn’t have to suffer in silence.
I saw couples struggling to stay connected.
I saw parents trying to figure it out without guidance.
I saw children holding in questions they didn’t feel safe enough to ask—remaining silent about things that needed to be said.
And I couldn’t ignore it.
Around 2015, I hosted my first event in my living room. After countless conversations about the challenges of marriage—and after walking through my own struggles—I knew there had to be a space where couples could come together, be real, and grow.
I invited a ministering couple I deeply respected—people who not only had a strong marriage, but who lived with wisdom, authenticity, and joy. I knew they would create an environment that was honest, fun, and free of judgment.
We hosted about six couples.
There was food. There were swag bags.
But more than anything—there was connection.
It was real. It was refreshing. And it was needed.
For years after, people continued to ask, “When are you doing it again?”
Several years later, I hosted a second event at a community center. It was more structured, a little more formal—but the heart was the same. And again, the response confirmed what I already knew:
This work mattered.
Not long after, while on a school trip to Atlanta, I found myself on a Megabus having a conversation with my best friend, Rose, that would shift everything.
As she began to write out her vision for her future in mental health therapy, I started thinking more intentionally about my own in marriage & family therapy. I knew I wanted a private practice, and like her, I wanted to give back.
But I also realized something deeper.
My calling wasn’t just to serve individuals—it was to reach families.
I began to speak out loud about an outreach that would support families at every stage of life—from infancy to end of life. A space where no need would be ignored, no matter a person’s background, tax bracket, race, or life experience.
I wanted to build something that met people where they were—without judgment, without shame, and with integrity at the center of it all.
In 2019, I spoke it into existence.
A nonprofit.
A private practice.
Even the vision of incorporating therapeutic work in unique ways—down to working with horses.
What I spoke then is what I am now building.
On April 14, 2025, Before, After, & In-Between was officially established—marking the beginning of what had long been placed on my heart.
Before, After, & In-Between is not just an organization—it is the manifestation of a calling, a vision, and a commitment to walk with people through every stage of life.
This is the Lord’s doing, and it is marvelous in my sight.
